WHAT IS THE EXECUTIVE TEAM

The NAUS Executive Team is responsible for leading the Neuroscience Association for Undergraduate Students, a student organization within the Human Biology Program at the University of Toronto. The team oversees the planning and execution of academic, social, and career-focused events, supports student engagement and consultation within the program, and assists with major university events like Fall Campus Day, all while ensuring the association operates in accordance with university regulations and the ASSU Constitution.

ROLES AND POSITIONS

2 positions

CO-PRESIDENTS

The Co-Presidents of NAUS are responsible for overseeing the organization and administration of the Executive Committee, managing the budget, and ensuring proper use of funds. They coordinate all union activities, organize elections, chair general meetings, and act as a liaison between students and the Human Biology Department. Additionally, they attend ASSU meetings, ensure compliance with university regulations, and handle student grievances.

VICE PRESIDENT OF ACADEMICS

The Vice Presidents of Academics are responsible for organizing at least one non-collaborative academic event each semester to comply with ASSU regulations and maintain funding eligibility. They serve as the primary coordinators for the Annual Everything Neuroscience (ΣN) Conference, ensuring its success and academic integrity. They also collaborate with the Vice Presidents of Social Affairs on one academic-social event per year, balancing professional development and student networking.

VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNICATIONS

The Vice Presidents of Communications are responsible for managing and updating NAUS' digital presence, including the website and social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Discord). They promote NAUS events by reaching out to other associations on Instagram and oversee the dissemination of announcements and event promotions to ensure effective communication with the student body. They also manage member recruitment and attendance records, collaborate with other executives to maintain a cohesive brand image, and facilitate internal communication within the executive team.

3RD YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Third Year Representatives must be in their third year of the Neuroscience Program at the time of election. They are responsible for their designated core courses (e.g., HMB300, CJH332, HMB320) throughout the academic year. They have the same responsibilities as Year Representatives, including keeping classmates informed, advertising events, and relaying student feedback through the NAUS-Neuroscience Feedback Form. They also organize at least one event per semester for third-year students, such as course review sessions.

SECRETARY

The Secretary is responsible for initiating and maintaining collaborations with student clubs, academic organizations, and external partners to support NAUS events. They keep records of all General and Executive meetings, manage related correspondence, and oversee the NAUS email account for sponsorships, external outreach, and general inquiries. The Secretary also assists the Co-Presidents and Vice Presidents with event coordination, NAUS' calendar, and Discord channels, and helps facilitate internal communication within the executive team to ensure efficient coordination and outreach.

VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE

The Vice President of Finance is responsible for preparing budget requests for funding from ASSU and the Human Biology Program. They act as one of three signing officers on financial transactions, maintaining detailed records. They ensure all NAUS funds are used appropriately, with unused ASSU funds returned and unused sponsorship money kept for future use.

VICE PRESIDENT OF SOCIALS

The Vice Presidents of Socials are responsible for organizing and coordinating NAUS social events, ensuring all events comply with regulations from the Human Biology Program and other necessary organizations. They must organize at least one social event per semester to maintain a balanced event calendar and meet funding requirements. They also serve as the primary coordinators for the Annual Formal and collaborate with at least one other student union for a social event each year.

GRADUATING YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Graduating Year Representatives must be in their final year of the Neuroscience Program at the time of election. They have all the responsibilities of Year Representatives, including keeping classmates informed about NAUS, advertising events with course administrator approval, and notifying students about NAUS elections. They also relay student feedback to NAUS and the Human Biology Program and organize at least one event for their year. In addition, they liaise with neuroscience alumni and host alumni events. They also assist the Vice Presidents of Academic Affairs with the Annual Everything Neuroscience (ΣN) Conference as needed.

2ND YEAR REPRESENTATIVE

Second Year Representatives must be in their first year of the Neuroscience Program. They are responsible for their designated core course(s) (e.g., HMB200) throughout the academic year. They hold the same responsibilities as Year Representatives, including keeping classmates informed, advertising events, and relaying feedback through the NAUS-Neuroscience Feedback Form. They must organize at least one event per semester for second-year students, such as course review sessions, and assist the Vice Presidents of Social and Academic Affairs with event planning.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Graphic Designers are responsible for creating advertising materials for NAUS events, such as posters, conference materials, and promotional graphics. They have access to NAUS' social media accounts to help the Vice Presidents of Communications manage and maintain visual content, ensuring consistent branding. During high-demand periods, they provide additional support by assisting with content creation, scheduling, and social media updates.
